Walking the talk: youth practical action in Montréal
About this event: Beyond Kyoto – It’s Us! International Youth Summit and UN Conference on Climate Change Youth Delegation

Today the international youth delegation to the UN Conference on Climate Change staying in one of the many Montréal’s hotels proved that it can not only speak beautifully about the importance of urgent actions to mitigate the climate change effects, but also take very concrete and practical measures themselves. More than 20 young people contributed a certain amount of their money to buy energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs) for replacement of the grossly inefficient old-fashioned 100–120Wt incandescent bulbs installed in the hotel’s bedrooms, corridors and kitchen. We started the operation “go green with CFLs!” this morning and will keep you updated on the amount of electricity we’ll manage to save because of this simple (but necessary to implement in all our communities across the world) action.
